FRIENDSHIP FELLOWSHIP AT PINEDA
Covenant of Right Relations

Grateful for the religious pluralism which enriches and ennobles our faith, we are inspired to deepen our understanding and expand our vision.  As self-determining members of this fellowship, we enter into this covenant freely, promising our mutual trust and support.

We the members of this Fellowship, with this Covenant, pledge to work together to honor and embody our shared values and aspirations.  Respect for the inherent worth and dignity of every person; Justice, Equity, and Compassion in our relationships with one another, Respect for the right of conscience and commitment to the democratic process.  Each of us pledges to take responsibility for our own actions and to be sensitive always to the effect/impact our actions my have upon others.  Finally, we all stand prepared to forgive, through a process of truth and reconciliation, any who may have offended and we recognize that everything we say and do must begin with kindness, fairness, respect and love.

This is a pledge freely made by members, friends, and participants in the FFP community and to which we hold ourselves and one another accountable in our daily interactions.
  • We will honor the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and we will treat everyone in our community with kindness, honesty, fairness, and respect.
  • We will listen carefully to one another without interrupting and consider what we have heard before responding.
  • We will speak to, not about one another.  We will dispel rumors.
  • We will assume purity of intent and positive motive on the part of others and examine our own purity of intent and motive.
  • We will honor the democratic process, attending meetings and making decisions openly.
  • We will abide by decisions made through this process even when we disagree and/or were unable to participate in the process.
  • We will communicate freely and fully, as individuals, committees and leaders, sharing important information and issues and keeping everyone abreast of what is happening in the life of the congregation (NOTE: Members agreed that we need to decide a way to do this efficiently - weekly news blurb? - so that all members have access whether they have computers or not and whether they attend Sunday service or not.)
  • We will volunteer to help rather than criticizing the way others are doing something.
  • When we have a disagreement/grievance with another, we will give our best effort to resolving the matter privately and confidentially among those directly involved.  If that fails, we will resort to and abide by the FFP Conflict Resolution Process.
  • We will strive, in all of our words and deeds, to begin with kindness, fairness, respect, and love.
