Welcoming Congregation Committee
We are a welcoming congregation. But we know that silence is what allows discrimination to continue. We want to take action and shout out that we affirm the value and dignity of all human beings. To do just that, The Fellowship chose to participate in the Welcoming Congregation process. The process promotes friendship, offers opportunities to reduce prejudice, to educate ourselves, to increase understanding and acceptance among people of different sexual orientations. The goal is to be “inclusive and expressive of the concerns of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons at every level of congregational life.”
The Welcoming Congregation Committee met over a two year period with the goal of becoming an official Unitarian Universalist Association Welcoming Congregational through a congregational vote at our annual meeting 2011. The congregation voted unanimously to become a Welcoming Congregation and received recognition from the Unitarian Universalist Association.
The committee welcomes ideas and suggestions from anyone in the congregation.
